Focus Congo brings justice for the victims of war rape and child warfare in the DRC. Some estimates are that nearly 60% of women in Eastern Congo have been victims of sexual violence. Rape has become part of the international identity of the DRC and its wounds go deep into the heart of society. War rape victims and former child soldiers require advanced support to heal and to develop practical skills for self-sustainability. The complex and widespread nature of the atrocities also necessitates reconciliation between members of society. As a result, Focus Congo partners with grassroots organizations that specialize in rehabilitation, skills training, and reconciliation for victims of conflict by working directly with them to see hope rise from the despair.
